Painting is like breathing for me. I look at the world as a painting. The last few years have been particularly productive as time is finally on my side. That has allowed me to zero in on what really motivates me - the ocean.
I love all the moods of the sea and water in general. The way it moves, the way it reflects light, it all speaks to me. Trees really make me tick as well. In general I seem to like focusing in on things. Not so much the forest but the trees. Not so much the field but the flower etc. I always aim for the best quality of products and I search and research materials and what they do all the time. When a painting is done and photographed I seal it with varnish to protect it from the elements for years to come. You probably noticed that I paint much on hardboard. The reason is it's archival quality. It is one of the most durable and stable painting surfaces and before I paint it gets sealed with primer on all 6 sides. Again durability is the goal.
